SOLUTION: The rotary actuator comprises piston members having rack gears for reciprocating in a cylinder in mutually opposed linear directions, the rack gears of the piston members using one pinion gear in common for rotating a shaft fitted to the pinion gear. The piston members each have both ends formed as piston heads, and the cylinder uses an existing sanitary pipe.
