Abstract:
An MPEG-4 based multimedia system in connection with a service provider therefore, and a remote communication device therefore, is presented. The interactive content based remote communication unit simplifies and reduces the number of steps and buttons required for receiving interactive service by the use of MPEG-4 encoded data. Additionally, new ways are disclosed for the data processing at the service provider side. Further, an improved way of exchanging data between the service provider (broadcaster, cable provider) and the customer (viewer) is presented. Still further, there is disclosed how digital equipment (server, set-top box, remote control unit and display) involved in the data processing can be optimized for the task of controlling the available channel bandwidth and displaying the data.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for sharing multimedia content using a digital video recorder (DVR). A multimedia device among a plurality of multimedia devices in communication with a DVR via a local network receives a user command to play multimedia content stored on the DVR. In response to the user command, the multimedia device retrieves the multimedia content stored on the DVR, the DVR receiving at least a portion of a plurality of stored multimedia content via an input tuner. Subsequent to retrieving the multimedia content, the multimedia device plays the multimedia content to a user or sends the multimedia content for display to the user. The multimedia device processes the multimedia content prior to the playing or sending operations.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the influence of digital signals from being exerted to distribution output as television signals. SOLUTION: An RF connector 203 for outputting distribution signals is disposed to the circuit board 402 of the analog signal processing part 301 of a cable modem module device 202, the circuit board 402 is covered with a shield case 403 leaving the RF connector 203, and the analog signal processing part 301 covered with the shield case 403 is mounted on a circuit board 401 loaded with a digital signal processing part 302. The circuit board 401 and the analog signal processing part 301 covered with the shield case 403 are covered with a different shield case 405 so as not to cover the RF connector 203.
