    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regenerate and recover an alkali sulfate fixed in a solution by an easy method from a slightly soluble double sulfate of a rare earth element obtained, e.g. at a step of recovering the rare earth element from a used battery.
    SOLUTION: The slightly soluble double sulfate is brought into contact with an alkali carbonate solution, the precipitate is separated by filtration, and a prepared alkali sulfate solution is recovered. The alkali carbonate solution preferably contains ≥1.0 equiv. of the alkali carbonate based on the slightly soluble double sulfate (3/4 of total SO
    4 in the slightly soluble double sulfate), and sodium carbonate is preferably used as the alkali carbonate.
