    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube capable of generating uniform and constant beam current for a long time and being manufactured reproducibly. SOLUTION: This cathode-ray tube has at least one oxide cathode having a cathode support body having a cathode film made of electron emitting material containing a cathode base made of cathode metal and an oxide particle. The oxide particle contains alkaline earth oxide selected from a group comprising oxides of calcium, strontium, and barium. As the alkaline earth oxide, an oxide selected from a group comprising oxides of scandium, yttrium, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, and lutetium is doped in a range from 120 ppm to 500 ppm at maximum. The electron emitting material has a conductance from 3*10-3 Ω-1cm-1 to 12.5*10-3 Ω-1cm-1.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube suitable for high ampere operation from a cathode capable of establishing a high brightness of cathode-ray tube, enhancing the focusing performance, and shortening the image output time. SOLUTION: An electron emitting substance layer 42 of a cathode 40 constituting an electron gun is composed of a first layer 421 including an alkaline earth metal oxide formed on the surface of the substrate metal 41 of cathode 40 and a second layer 422 made of alkaline earth metal oxide containing 0.1-10 wt.% rare earth metal oxides formed on the surface of the first layer 421 and having a mean particle size of 0.2-1.0 μm, wherein the substrate metal 41 contains nickel as the main component and one or more reducing metals such as magnesium and silicon, and the plate thickness of the portion contacting with the electron emitting substance layer 42 is made between 0.10-0.15 mm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain high density of a beam current even at a low temperature by containing scandium tungstate in an electron emitting substance. CONSTITUTION: Scandium tungstate is contained in an electron emitting substance. A storage tank 3c and a sleeve 4c are formed of high melting point metal such as Mo and Ta, and the electron emitting substance 2c is formed of barium calcium alminate, and contains Sc2 W3 012 and/or Sc6 WO12 by a proper quantity, and a supply source of Sc being a generative element of a monoatomic layer of Ba-Sc-o having a low work function, is placed in a bottom part of a porous metallic base body 1c. Therefore, since a monoatomic layer of uniform tissue is generated on a surface of the porous metallic base body 1c, high density of a beam current can be attained even at a low temperature, and a persistent and stable electron emitting characteristic can be exhibited.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain fluctuations of cutoff voltage by realizing a high current density in a cathode for electron tube, and suppress changes of luminance. SOLUTION: The main component of the cathode for the electron tube is made by nickel. On a substrate which contains at least a kind of reducer, a porous metal layer is formed that has tungsten as the main component and that has the thickness of 80 μm or less, and the porosity of 20 to 70%, and further an electron emission substance layer is equipped that has alkaline-earth metal oxides as the main component containing at least barium.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode having high current density of an electron beam by forming an electron emitting substance layer mainly composed of alkaline earth metal oxide or the base metal mainly composed of nickel, and laying/ forming/heating rare earth metal or a rare earth metal compound on the surface of the electron emitting substance layer. SOLUTION: An electron emitting substance layer 12 is laid/formed on the upper surface of the base metal 11 by supporting the base metal 11 by a cathode support stand. An electron beam control grid 14 forming an electron beam passing hole is formed in front of the electron emitting substance layer 12 so that a heater 13 to heat a base board is arranged on the inside surface of the base metal 11. Here, the base metal 11 contains a small quantity of magnesium and silicon by being mainly composed of nickel, and the electron emitting substance layer 12 is desirably composed of oxide of alkaline earth metal such as Ba, Sr and Ca. A rare earth metal compound 15 is laid/formed on the surface of the electron emitting substance layer 12. Therefore, an electron having high electric current density is emitted from a cathode for an electron tube.
