본 발명은 티탄산 알칼리 화합물의 제조 방법에 관한 것으로서, 티탄 화합물과 알칼리 금속 화합물을 혼합하고, 수득된 혼합물을 소성하는 제 1 공정과, 상기 제 1 공정에 의해 수득된 소성물에 알칼리 금속 화합물을 첨가하여 혼합하고, 수득된 혼합물을 다시 소성하는 제 2 공정을 적어도 포함한다. 이에 의해 단상이고 원하는 조성의 티탄산 알칼리를 제조할 수 있는 것을 특징으로 한다.

Disclosed is a method for producing potassium titanate which is suitable as a friction material for a friction slide member. Also disclosed is a friction material. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing potassium titanate, which comprises the steps of: mixing an aggregate or granule of a titanium compound with an aggregate or granule of a potassium compound homogeneously in a vibration rod mill to produce a mixture; and burning the mixture to cause the reaction between the titanium compound with the potassium compound to produce potassium titanate. The method can produce potassium titanate in a simple manner and at low cost.

Disclosed is a method for producing an alkali titanate compound, which comprises at least a first step wherein a titanium compound and an alkali metal compound are mixed and the thus-obtained mixture is fired, and a second step wherein an alkali metal compound is added and mixed into the fired product obtained in the first step and the thus-obtained mixture is fired again. This method enables to produce a single-phase alkali titanate having a desired composition.
