Abstract: Systems for fabrication of dental appliances are provided. In some embodiments, a system includes an additive manufacturing system configured to perform operations including: fabricating a first elongate shaft having a first connection region for connecting to a shell of a dental appliance, fabricating a second elongate shaft having a second connection region for connecting to the shell or to a tooth, fabricating a first elongate connector coupled to the first and second elongate shafts, and fabricating a second elongate connector coupled to the first elongate shaft and extending toward the second elongate shaft, where the first and second elongate connectors are coupled to the first elongate shaft at respective locations separate from the first connection region, and where the first elongate connector is coupled to the second elongate shaft at a location separate from the second connection region.

Abstract: A mobile device comprises an AR display, an image capture device that generates image data of a face of a viewer of the AR display, and a processing device. The processing device receives the image data and sends the image data to a computing device. The computing device processes the image data to identify a position of a dental arch in the image data; determines a treatment outcome for the dental arch; generates a post-treatment image of the dental arch that shows the treatment outcome; generates updated image data comprising a superimposition of the post-treatment image of the dental arch over the received image data; and sends the updated image data to the mobile device. The mobile device outputs the updated image data to the AR display, wherein the post-treatment image of the dental arch is superimposed over the dental arch in the received image data such that the post-treatment image is visible in the AR display rather than a true depiction of the dental arch.

Abstract: Intraoral sensors and associated systems, devices, and methods are provided. In some embodiments, an intraoral sensor for sensing pH within an intraoral cavity of a subject includes a film composed of a biocompatible polymer and a pH-sensitive molecule. The pH-sensitive molecule can be configured to change in color based on a pH within a subject's intraoral cavity. The pH-sensitive molecule can be immobilized in the film. The intraoral sensor can also include an adhesive configured to couple the film to a surface of a dental appliance or a tooth of the subject.

Abstract: In embodiments, a processing device detects a margin line in a model of a preparation from one or more images. The processing device determines, for each segment of a plurality of segments of the margin line, a quality score for the segment. The processing device determines that a segment of the margin line has a quality score that is below a quality threshold, wherein the segment of the margin line was generated based on a first set of images. Responsive to determining that the segment of the margin line has the quality score that is below the quality threshold, the processing devices updates the three-dimensional model of the preparation by replacing a portion of the three-dimensional model associated with the segment of the margin line with image data from at least one of a new image or a second set of images.

Abstract: A method may include identifying a jaw position of a misaligned jaw of a patient from the virtual image of the patient's jaw and providing a treatment plan. The treatment plan may include tooth repositioning forces and jaw repositioning forces. The method may also include virtually modeling application of jaw repositioning forces between a first repositioning jaw element and a second repositioning jaw element to obtain a virtual model of the application of the jaw repositioning forces on the virtual model of the patient's jaw, identifying one or more constraints limiting the application of the jaw repositioning forces to the misaligned jaw, and adjusting the first repositioning jaw element and the second repositioning jaw element to accommodate the one or more constraints.

Methods and systems are provided to automatically detect dental edges after a dental scan. Also described herein are methods and systems for generating a simulated image of the person's face from the final segmentation of the person's teeth in which the segmented teeth have been moved from their original position, including a new position based on an orthodontic treatment plan.
