    摘要： A Point of Sale (POS) system includes a portable terminal for a customer and an adjustment POS terminal connected to the portable terminal in a retail store. The portable terminal includes an input unit for inputting article codes corresponding to goods selected by a customer and a local price look-up (PLU) file for storing main article codes. A retrieval unit retrieves the article information from the local PLU file in accordance with the article code input through the input unit, and a calculation unit performs calculation processes in accordance with the result of retrieval by the retrieval unit. A display unit then displays the article information and a result of calculation by the calculation unit. A storage unit stores the article information and a result of calculation by the calculation unit. A communication unit sends the article information which is temporarily stored in the storage unit to the adjustment POS terminal. The adjustment terminal includes a communication unit for receiving the article information which is sent from the portable terminal, and a calculation unit for performing adjustment processes in accordance with the article information received.

    摘要： A POS (Point Of Sales) system which employs a purchased commodity accommodating and transporting apparatus having a self scanning function is improved in that a total amount of money for commodities loaded on a shopping cart or in a shopping basket or unit prices of the individual commodities can come to a knowledge of a customer before the commodities are transported to a settlement POS terminal thereby to prevent possible shopping of an amount of money greater than an estimate to allow smooth shopping and that commodities are printed in a sorted condition for different groups to facilitate confirmation of purchased commodities by a customer. A display section is provided on the purchased commodity accommodating and transporting apparatus and displays the prices of commodities obtained by retrieval of a commodity price file in accordance with commodity code information read by a commodity code reading section and a total value of the prices of the commodities.

The purchased commodity accommodating and transporting apparatus comprises a commodity code reading section for reading a commodity code applied to a commodity, an accommodation section for accommodating therein a commodity whose commodity code has been read, a weighing equipment for measuring the total weight of commodities accommodated in the accommodation section, a weight determination section for detecting the increase/decrease of the total weight of the commodities in the accommodation section, and an alarm generation section responsive to a result of the detection for generating an alarm when the total weight of the commodities has changed without reading a commodity code.

The POS system includes a POS apparatus including a settlement terminal for effecting final settlement of the accounts for a purchased commodity or commodities, and one or a plurality of self-scanning registration terminals accommodated in the POS apparatus by way of a control apparatus and each including a commodity code reader for reading a commodity code applied to a commodity. The control apparatus communicates commodity purchase information based on commodity code information read by the commodity code reader of the self-scanning registration terminal or any of the self-scanning registration terminals between the self-scanning registration terminal and the POS apparatus. The POS system can be applied in the distribution industry, particularly in a store such as a mass sales store, a convenience store or a supermarket.
