    Abstract: An improved apparatus and method of sliding window construction are disclosed. When moving in an open position, a sash member is guided for movement in a first plane generally parallel to the window frame opening. When moving toward closure, the sash is guided by rotatable glide members that simultaneously transversely move all four corners of the sash into closure under cam action of the glides, to uniformly compress a weatherstrip seal around the entire perimeter of the sash. The transverse movement between open and closed positions can be performed in a manner such that the general plane of the sash remains parallel to the first plane throughout the transverse movement phase. Means are provided for retainably maintaining the sash at discrete positions along the transverse path of the sash during closure.

    Abstract: A fenestration unit including screen coil apparatus is provided by the invention. The fenestration unit includes a frame defining an opening. A sash- is slideably received by the opening of the frame. The fenestration unit includes a screen coil assembly attached to the sash. The screen coil assembly includes a screen having first and second edges, and a roll core, wherein the screen is capable of being coiled and uncoiled on the roll core. The fenestration unit further includes an edge support having first and second support members having at least a portion located between the frame and the sash, the first and second support members for fastening to the screen first and second edges.

    Abstract: An improved detachable nailing flange construction for window and door frames is disclosed. The flange configuration allows the flange to be rotated between collapsed and operative extended positions, while retainably attached to the frame. When collapsed, the flange is protected by the frame for shipment and handling. Means are provided for locking the flange into its extended position and for providing a weathertight seal with the frame. The direction of attachment to the frame can be reversed for selectively adjusting the lateral position at which the flange projects from the frame so as to vary the set-back of the frame relative to the wall in which it is to be installed.
