Abstract:
An actuator block for supporting suspension assemblies of a data storage system for read or write operations. The suspensions assemblies are coupled to an actuator arm of the actuator block via a mounting plate. The mounting plate is formed of a generally flat planar member coupled to a first end of the suspension assembly and defining upper and lower surfaces and sides. The mounting plate is coupled to the actuator arm along sides of the mounting plate to secure the suspension assemblies to the actuator block for operation without imparting a significant force to the suspension assembly along a load axis of the suspension assembly.
Abstract:
In a magnetic head carrying device a method and apparatus for removing a magnetic head carrying arm from a support arm wherein ball stake mounting is used to affix the magnetic head carrying arm to the support arm. A mounting plate is provided having a bevel. Tool blades may be inserted into the bevel to disassemble the ball stake mount.
Abstract:
A gripping tool for gripping a suspension assembly component of a disc drive includes a first planar gripping member connected to a second planar gripping member. The first and second planar gripping members each have respective first and second gripping surfaces that share common respective edges with respective first and second non-gripping surfaces. The first and second non-gripping surfaces having larger surface areas than the first and second gripping surfaces, respectively.

Abstract:
A contained instrument cleaner including a housing having an enclosed chamber and an opening sized to insert an instrument. A rigid member having an abrading surface is supported inside the chamber for cleaning debris from an instrument. The device includes a vacuum channel opened to the chamber and coupleable to a vacuum source for removing debris. A method for cleaning an instrument including the steps of inserting an instrument into an enclosed chamber and rubbing the instrument against an abrading member in the enclosed chamber for removing debris. A vacuum is supplied in the enclosed chamber for collecting debris.
