    摘要： A polygonal container is disclosed which, in its preferred embodiment, includes a unitary lower body portion and a separable cap portion. The unitary body is made from a flat sheet of foldable material having fold lines defining side panels and integrally connected end closure flaps and web portions which are foldable to effect interlacing of the web portions and end closure flaps and establish a self-locking closed end of the container. The flat body sheet may have generally identically shaped end closure flaps and web portions on each end to establish end closures on both ends of the assembled container.

At three of the four corners there are hinge lines from only two of said blanks, whereas at the remaining corner there is one hinge line from each blank. However, the hinge line at this corner of either the inner or center blank has a central blind slot extending for the major portion of its length, and the hinge line of the other blank has upper and lower short slots at the ends thereof.

    摘要： Apparatus for forming a container from a flat blank includes a forming station having a plurality of camming elements for folding the panels and flaps of the blank into an upwardly open container. The operator manually fills the container in the forming station, and the filled container is slid horizontally therefrom past a pair of adhesive applicators. The horizontal movement folds closed the remaining flaps of the end closures as the container is pushed into a compression station where the adhesive sets.

    摘要： A reinforced fiberboard container having a plurality of reinforcing pads adhesively attached to its vertical sidewalls. Each reinforcing pad has a height substantially less than the height of the attached sidewall, and the method of adhesive attachment is such that sidewalls of the container are bowed inward in a region vertically adjacent the reinforcing pads. When the container is made of outer and inner units, the pads are preferably disposed between the sidewalls of the units but may also be located on the inner surface of the inner unit. When the reinforcing pads are to be located adjacent the upper and/or lower edges of the sidewalls, sidewall extensions may be provided which can be folded upward or downward to create the pads.
