摘要： A toning system for an electrostatic copying machine capable of developing a latent charge image carried therepast on an electrophotographic member moved through an endless path including an arcuate section. A rotary magnetic brush is journalled for rotation on an axis parallel to the arcuate section. A toner layer is applied to at least a portion of the circumference of the brush and brought into engagement with the electrophotographic member at the arcuate section. A hopper carries a quantity of toner and a cylindrical formation is connected to the bottom of a hopper carrying a quantity of toner and spaced from and encompasses all but a segment of the volume occupied by said brush. The hopper has a wall which provides a bottom edge spaced from the surface of said brush to form a metering blade adjacent said segment. The segment extends from the blade to the electrophotographic member, the brush being rotatable in a direction so that a layer of toner is metered onto the brush and is carried through said segment into engagement with said electrophotographic member.

摘要： In an electrostatic copier, a patterned original is moved along the top wall thereof in synchronism with the movement of a flexible electrophotographic looped member. A single electric motor functions to move the electrophotographic member in a predetermined direction past the functional stations of the copier.The patterned member is moved by a pair of rollers arranged to define a nip, one of the rollers being driven by the electric motor. Power is applied to the electric motor to start rotation of the rollers and movement of the electrophotographic member simultaneously, the rollers arranged to enable a patterned member to be pressed into said nip while the motor is not energized and neither the electrophotographic member nor the one of the said rollers is rotating, at which time the electric motor can be energized manually causing synchronized movement of the patterned member and the electrophotographic member.

摘要： A projection and illuminating system for an electrostatic copier machine which includes an endless electrophotographic belt mounted for driven rotation in a generally oval path past plural functional stations for reproducing a pattern from a pattern carrying original. The pattern is illuminated and projected to a transparent platen as the original moves over the platen. At least one lamp is arranged below the platen, the lamp including a window and the axial aspect of the lamp is varied to vary the illumination. A rectangular cross-section lens is disposed aligned with the center of the platen. The lamp can be rotated in its socket. One of the lamp and socket therefor can be rotated to change the position of its window, hence vary the illumination reaching the belt to only that light reflected from the platen bottom and which passes through the lens.

摘要： A compact, table top plain paper copy machine has a teardrop shaped photoreceptor belt. A reciprocating carriage scan exposes an original document to the photoreceptor through an optical system having a Z-shaped optical path. The optical system and a number of other processing stations are located directly underneath the carriage thereby contributing to the overall compactness of the machine. A pair of pressure fusing rollers fix a dry toned image to a plain paper copy sheet, so that no energy is required to maintain the machine in a warm-up or stand-by mode of operation.
