The signal transfer device is mounted beneath a probe plate and includes a spring-loaded transfer element for contacting a test pad on the test fixture. These connections couple with connections arranged in complementary manner on the test fixture. The resource connections provide the various electrical, power, RF, and pneumatic resources required to test the production devices. The predetermined arrangement of connections allows fixtures to be quickly changed, as all connections can be simultaneously coupled and de-coupled. Thus, the docking station interface on the test fixture is standardized, and the test machine interface on the inventive docking station is customized to the test machine.

摘要： A tool that loads magnetic heads onto the disk of a hard disk drive. The tool has a first arm which has an alignment block and a plurality of fingers. The first arm cooperates with a second arm which has an alignment slot and a plurality of second fingers. The arms are coupled to an actuator which moves the arms in opposite directions to separate the first fingers from the second fingers. Movement of the arms also causes a first alignment surface of the alignment block to engage a second alignment surface of the alignment slot. The alignment surfaces are essentially parallel with the fingers and insure that the fingers translate relative to each other without any relative rotational movement.

摘要： The inventive connection mechanism uses a tongue and groove connection in combination with a RF gasket. Fixture panels are constructed by placing the tongue of one panel into the groove of another panel. The gasket is pre-positioned in the groove, such that the tongue compresses the gasket to the manufacture's specified compression thickness. The panels can then be secured using fasteners. RF fixtures constructed with such connection mechanisms can be rapidly assembled. Moreover, the RF fixtures can be rapidly taken apart to allow for maintenance of the internal elements of the fixture. The use of the tongue and groove connection with the RF gasket provides an RF sealed connection. Thus, the fixture is not subject to interference from undesirable external RF signals.

摘要： The inventive fixture adapter has installed pneumatic actuators. Pneumatic connections for the actuators are made during installation of the adapter in the fixture. Thus, testing of a device can begin before the drawer is closed, and be completed while the drawer is being opened, thus saving cycle time. The adapter is removably connected to the drawer mechanism of the fixture, and thus can quickly and reliably be changed for a different adapter. All of the customization required for a particular device can be confined to the adapter, and thus the reset of the fixture can be made generic.
