Abstract: An ophthalmic device includes an optic and a haptic structure coupled with the optic. The optic includes an optic axis. The haptic structure is coupled to the optic. The haptic structure retains the ophthalmic device within a capsular bag of a patient's eye. At least a portion of the haptic structure has a cross-section and a peripheral surface forming an outer periphery of a portion of the cross-section. At least a portion of the peripheral surface contacts the capsular bag and is smoothly curved.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for implanting an intraocular lens into an eye are described. For example, an intraocular lens injector may include a passage formed in a distal end portion of the intraocular lens injector. The passage may define an interior surface, and a ramp may be formed on the interior surface so as to cause a leading haptic of an intraocular lens (IOL) being advanced through the passage to lift above a surface of an optic of the IOL to ensure proper folding of the IOL.

Abstract: An ophthalmic device includes an optic including an optic axis and a closed-loop haptic structure coupled to the optic via a frame surrounding the optic, the closed-loop haptic structure including a closed loop extending from first and second attachment points to the frame. The closed loop includes a first hinge and a second hinge. The first hinge has a first section having a first component extending in a first angular direction, a second section having a second component extending in a second angular direction opposite to the first angular direction, and a first connecting section between the first section and the second section. The second hinge has a third section having a third component extending in the second angular direction, a fourth section having a fourth component extending in the first angular direction, the fourth section being connected to the second section to form the closed loop.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for implanting an intraocular lens into an eye are described. For example, an intraocular lens injector may include a plunger and an injector body that includes an insertion depth guard and a nozzle extending therefrom. The insertion depth guard is disposed at a distal end of the injector body to limit a distance that the nozzle penetrates the eye. The intraocular lens injector may also include a biasing element configured to generate a counterforce to distal movement of the plunger through the injector rod. An example intraocular lens injector may include a biasing element to produce a counterforce that opposes advancement of the plunger through the injector body. The counterforce provides for a more continuous advancement of the plunger while reducing or substantially eliminating abrupt changes in the rate at which the plunger is advanced through the injector body.

Abstract: An eye dropper includes a nozzle secured to a reservoir. The nozzle includes a sleeve that extends around the center and has a first zone, a second zone, and a third zone, having corresponding first, second, and third expansion pressures at which the first, second and third zones separate from the center. The second pressure is less than the first expansion pressure and the third expansion pressure is less than the second expansion pressure. The third expansion pressure may be less than the first expansion pressure. A notch in the sleeve may receive a ridge on the center. The zones may be positioned over a groove in the center or extend completely around a center that is cylindrical or frusto-conical in shape. Multiple instances of first, second and third zones may be distributed along the center. The sleeve may be made of a more flexible material than the center.
