摘要: An accommodative intraocular lens for implantation in an eye within a natural capsular bag includes a first lens part with an optical body transparent to light and defining an optical axis, front and rear optical body surfaces, haptics connected permanently to the optical body and designed to come into engagement with the capsular bag, a flexible membrane connected permanently to the haptics or the optical body, the membrane having a center axis which runs congruently or parallel to the optical axis and is transparent to light, and a second lens part with a hollow cylinder which can be positioned with a proximal end on the front membrane surface of the first lens part such that the hollow cylinder and the membrane can be displaced along the optical axis towards the front optical body surface and thus the rear membrane surface undergoes a change in the radius of curvature thereof.

摘要: An ophthalmic device includes an optic including an optic axis and a closed-loop haptic structure coupled to the optic via a frame surrounding the optic, the closed-loop haptic structure including a closed loop extending from first and second attachment points to the frame. The closed loop includes a first hinge and a second hinge. The first hinge has a first section having a first component extending in a first angular direction, a second section having a second component extending in a second angular direction opposite to the first angular direction, and a first connecting section between the first section and the second section. The second hinge has a third section having a third component extending in the second angular direction, a fourth section having a fourth component extending in the first angular direction, the fourth section being connected to the second section to form the closed loop.

One example of a lens incorporating the phase-adjusting element includes the lens having surface with a modulated relief defining a plurality of regions including a first region and a second region, the first region having a depth relative to the second region, and a plurality of nanostructures formed in the first region. The depth of the first region and a spacing between adjacent nanostructures of the plurality of nanostructures is selected to provide a selected average index of refraction of the first region, and the spacing between adjacent nanostructures of the plurality of nanostructures is sufficiently small that the first region does not substantially diffract visible light.

摘要: An implantable device for supporting an artificial intraocular lens in an eye having an anterior segment of a capsular bag, an iris, and a sclera. The device includes a posterior platform having an anterior-facing surface and an inner wall defining, at least in part, a central aperture. When the device is implanted in the eye, light passes through the intraocular lens and the central aperture of the posterior platform towards the retina. The device includes at least one awning positioned over the anterior-facing surface of the posterior platform forming at least one recess anterior to the posterior platform. The device is configured to be deployed in the eye posterior of the iris so that no portion of the device rests in contact with the sclera after implantation. Related tools, systems, and methods are provided.

摘要: Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to an intraocular drug delivery system configured for implantation into an eye of a subject. The intraocular drug delivery system can include an intraocular lens (IOL) and a drug delivery component. The IOL includes an anterior side, a posterior side opposite the anterior side, a lens bordered by an edge and a haptic extending outwardly from the edge of the lens at a lens-haptic junction. The haptic includes, at the lens-haptic junction, a relief cut on the posterior side of the IOL. The drug delivery component includes a therapeutic agent and a fixation portion having an opening configured to receive the haptic therethrough. The fixation portion is configured to be secured to the relief cut of the haptic such that outward movement of the drug delivery component relative to the lens is inhibited.
