Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for providing instructions when receiving biometric data associated with a user. For instance, a user-recognition device may detect a portion of a user, such as a hand. The user-recognition device may then display a first graphical element indicating a target location for placing the portion of the user above the user-recognition device. Additionally, the user-recognition device may determine locations of the portion of the user above the user-recognition device. The user-recognition device may then display a second graphical element indicating the locations, such as when the locations are not proximate to the target location. Additionally, the user-recognition device may display instructions for moving the portion of the user to the target location. Based on detecting that the location of the portion of the user is proximate to the target location, the user-recognition device may send data representing the portion of the user to a remote system.

Abstract: A dual camera module system includes a housing and a pair of camera modules (e.g., digital cameras) that are aligned with fields of view that overlap below the housing. The camera modules are mounted to a bench within the housing. The dual camera module system is configured for mounting above areas such as retail establishments or other materials handling facilities. The housing is formed from one or more sections of plastic or like materials, and includes inlets and outlets that enable air to flow past the camera modules and other components within the housing, and to maintain such components at a desired temperature. Abstract: During operation, a facility may utilize many sensors, such as cameras, to generate sensor data. Some of these sensors may be housed within protective enclosures. The enclosures may be inside specially controlled environments, such as refrigerators, freezers, and so forth. During operation of the facility, moisture may accumulate on these enclosures, impairing the ability of the camera to acquire an image through the window. Described are devices to selectively heat a viewable area of the window such that moisture accumulation is reduced with minimal power use.

Abstract: A multi-sensor input device includes multi-color lights to illuminate a user's hand with various colors of light including visible and infrared, as well as sensors including a photodetector, a red-green-blue (RGB) camera, and an infrared camera. During operation, sensor data generated by the sensors may represent non-biometric input such as a barcode that is printed or shown on another device's display, biometric input such as images of surface and subcutaneous features of the user's hand, and so forth. The biometric input may then be processed to identify the user. The input device also includes antitamper features to improve security. The input device may be used at various locations, such as at an entry portal, point of sale, and so forth.
