Abstract: Technologies directed to a process of establishing a wireless connection between two devices with out-of-band transport assistance are described herein. In one method, a first device scans for a first message via a first radio. The first message includes information that a second device is using either a first or a second set of frequencies of a page hopping sequence. The first device repeatedly sends, via a second radio, a second message according to only the first or second set specified in the first message. The first device receives, via the second radio at a first frequency of the first or second set, a third message from the second device, via the second radio at the first frequency, a third message comprising additional information that establishes the wireless connection between the first device and the second device via the second radio.

Abstract: A system and method includes a first device (e.g., a primary wireless earbud) connected to a second device (e.g., a secondary wireless earbud) using a first wireless connection. The first device is also connected to a third device (e.g., a smartphone or smart watch) using a second wireless connection. If the first device determines that a handoff-triggering event has occurred, the first device disconnects the second wireless connection and the second device and the third device establish a third wireless connection between them.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for dynamic selection of a primary wireless earbud device. In one embodiment, an example system may include a first wireless earbud device having first memory and at least one first processor configured to access the first memory. The at least one first processor may execute computer-executable instructions to determine a first RSSI value for a first connection to a device, determine a first packet error rate value for the first connection, and determine a first link quality score using the first RSSI value and the first packet error rate value. The at least one first processor may execute computer-executable instructions to determine that the first link quality score is less than or equal to a handover threshold, disconnect from the device, and cause a second wireless earbud device to establish a second connection to the device.
