    摘要: A method for defining, generating, and using a global back-end taxonomy is disclosed. It is identified that a listing of an item is exposed to a plurality of users of a first subsystem via a set of categories of a first front-end taxonomy. The listing of the item is mapped to a set of categories of a global back-end taxonomy, the global back-end taxonomy being maintained independently of the first front-end taxonomy and a second front-end taxonomy, the second front-end taxonomy being associated with a second subsystem. A category of the set of categories of the global back-end taxonomy is mapped to a category of a set of categories of the second front-end taxonomy associated with the second subsystem. The listing of the item is exposed to a plurality of users of the second subsystem via the set of categories of the second front-end taxonomy.

    摘要: Techniques for generating a globally applicable taxonomy of e-commerce goods are described. According to various exemplary embodiments described herein, a taxonomy management system is configured to analyze item listing titles and user search queries in order to identify a set of globally applicable product types that serve as universal descriptors of the underlying things or objects that are the subject of an item listing or the likely user intended subject of a user search query. Such globally applicable product types are agnostic as to any specific product inventory or product category structure of an e-commerce website. After the taxonomy management system identifies product types, the taxonomy management system may incorporate the identified product types into a global product taxonomy that identifies the globally applicable product types.

    摘要: Techniques for categorizing item listings based on parsing item listing titles are described. According to various embodiments, listing titles of one or more item listings on a marketplace website are accessed, the item listings being associated with a particular product category in a product category structure of the marketplace website. Words in each of the listing titles may then be converted to semantic tokens in a token symbol space, based on a tokenization process. Thereafter, n-gram modeling may be performed on the tokens corresponding to each of the listing titles of the item listings in the particular product category. One or more dominant n-gram models associated with the listing titles of the item listings in the particular product category may then be identified.
