Abstract:
Providing a user experience on a multimodal communications terminal configured to communicate according to a plurality of communication includes: executing a single application that provides a user experience (UX) for controlling user selection of preferences of the plurality of communication methods when originating or receiving communication sessions; and providing, via the single application, a selectable control that is persistent such that the selectable control is displayed in any screen of the single application, wherein the control allows selection of one of the plurality of communication methods to use for a particular communication session.

Abstract:
A region specific proxy server receives a first request to establish a communication session from a communication device. The first request is based on an address of the region specific proxy server identified by a DNS server. The region specific proxy server generates and sends, to a media control service, a second request to identify a region specific media relay. The second request comprises the address of the region specific proxy server. The proxy server receives, from the media control service, an address of the region specific media relay that is selected based on the address of the region specific proxy server. The proxy server sends the address of the region specific media relay to the communication device. The communication device uses the address of the region specific media relay to establish a media communication session (e.g., a voice media communication session) using the region specific media relay.

Abstract:
System and method to provide an improved user experience for session requests at a multimodal communication terminal, the method including: providing a first user preference, to a server, for incoming communication sessions; receiving, at a first time, by the multimodal communication terminal, an indication of an incoming communication session; enabling control of a session delivery technique of the incoming communication session by use of a user experience; receiving a second user preference, from a user of the multimodal communication terminal, for outgoing communication sessions; receiving, at a second time, by the multimodal communication terminal, a request to establish an outgoing communication session; determining existence of a second predetermined condition, relevant to outgoing communication methods; selecting an outgoing communication method based upon existence of the second predetermined condition and the second user preference; and enabling control of the outgoing communication session by use of the user experience.
