Abstract: Described are methods, systems, and techniques for a laser system controller, such as a controller for a laser used in a medical device. The controller can be configured to generate a pulse-width modulated control signal, the pulse-width modulated control signal comprising a plurality of electrical pulses separated by a temporal delay; and communicating the pulse width modulated control signal to an optical pump, wherein the optical pump, responsive to the pulse width modulated control signal, generates optical pump light and wherein a lasing medium, when exposed to the optical pump light, generates a laser beam.
