Abstract:
Embodiments in the present disclosure include systems and methods related to a high-availability architecture for a cloud-based concurrent-access collaboration platform. The disclosed technology relates to an active data center which includes multiple document server instances that handle user requests for concurrently accessing documents. Multiple document server instances are implemented on a single physical server. This architecture uses an instance assignment manager to assign documents to the document server instances, a primary repository to store backup snapshots of the documents, and a datastore to store all changes made to the documents. The disclosed technology also involves a backup data center that can be swapped with the active data center automatically.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for online collaboration. A method embodiment facilitates collaborative editing of a cloud-based shared document using a browser-enabled platform native application. A user launches a platform native application and establishes a non-browser connection between the platform native application and a remote cloud-based shared file facility. The non-browser connection operates independently from any browser connections even though the platform native application includes a document editor web app within the embedded browser. A first user retrieves a first user copy of the cloud-based shared document, modifies the document, and shares the modified document so as to be accessible by other collaborating users.
Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed for a web or mobile interface enabling users and collaborators to simultaneously comment, edit, or edit content in real time or near real time managed by a cloud-based collaboration platform. In one embodiment, the data to be accessed concurrently is presented or depicted at the multiple physical devices to the collaborators for viewing and accessing the data in real time or near real time. Each of the collaborators is able to view, re-edit, or re-modify in a concurrent fashion, at the collaborator's physical device, edits or modifications made to the data in real time or near real time as a result of any of the other collaborators accessing the data at their respective physical devices. In some instances, additional collaborators are specifiable for the data created for concurrent real time access in addition to those originally associated with the folder.

The collaborating user modifications are applied to the first user copy before the first collaborating user reopens the first user copy of the cloud-based shared document.
