A CPU of a projector determines whether or not a correction mode in which the aspect ratio of an input image is changed to correct distortion is set and, if the correction mode is set, determines distortion correction process parameters for changing the aspect ratio of the image to be projected onto a screen to project the image in the form of a rectangular image, and the image converter performs geometric correction on the input image on the basis of the distortion correction process parameters to project the image subjected to distortion correction.

A display auxiliary device includes a light receiving sensor that receives display light from a display target, and a CPU that determines whether or not a switching display synchronous signal is included in the received display light, shields both a left-eye liquid crystal shutter and a right-eye liquid crystal shutter during a light reception period of time of the switching display synchronous signal based on the switching display synchronous signal, and performs a shutter switching operation of the left-eye liquid crystal shutter for the left-eye image and the right-eye liquid crystal shutter for the right-eye image to be switched and displayed, when the switching display synchronous signal is determined to be included.

A display apparatus includes an input unit to input an image signal, a display unit to display an image based on the input image signal, an observer information acquiring unit to acquire the number and positions of observers facing the display object, a display mode determining unit to determine a display mode including a direction of the image to be displayer on the basis of the acquired number and the acquired positions of the observers, and a display control unit to cause the display unit to display an image on the display object in the determined display mode.
