Abstract: In one aspect of the disclosure a communications network or topology is presented that includes one or more modular or adaptable smart pole assemblies. Each smart pole assembly can include a pole structure supporting a data-communications module and having a hollow interior through which a connectorized vertical cabling structure extends. Jumper cables can be provided to connect components associated with the data-communications module with the vertical cabling structure such that no cabling or wiring has to be removed or installed from the pole hollow interior when components are added, removed, or replaced. The vertical cabling structure or harness can include one or more of connectorized fiber optic cables, DC power cables, and connectorized Category 6 cables. The smart pole assembly can further include a fiber distribution hub within a base supporting the pole structure. The fiber distribution hub can provide a distribution point for multiple optical subscriber distribution cables for fiber-to-the-home distribution.

Abstract: A fiber-optic connection assembly including a cable, a fiber-optic connector and an adapter. The cable terminates with the fiber-optic connector. The fiber-optic connector is removably connected to the adapter with a fastener. The fiber-optic connection assembly also includes a cover that is configured to inhibit access to the fastener. The cover includes a passageway that is configured to removably receive at least a portion of the fiber-optic connector and at least a portion of the adapter.

Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a fiber optic communications network that includes a loop back connector in conjunction with one or more distribution devices daisy chained together to index optical fibers within the network. The network includes a central office that sends signals in one direction. The loop back connector can be mounted at the end of the chain to allow un-used live indexing optical fibers corresponding to active fiber positions to be looped back to feed signals to dead indexing optical fibers corresponding to inactive fiber positions. The dead indexing optical fibers can be optically connected to progressively dropped fibers or reverse ports in the indexed network.
