Abstract: A rotor is configured such that end portions of permanent magnets protrude, as protruding portions, from axial end faces of a rotor core which are formed as flat surfaces, so as to minimize leakage of magnetic flux of embedded magnet portions of the permanent magnets from the axial end faces of the rotor core; the embedded magnet portions of the permanent magnets are located in the rotor core.
