Abstract: The present disclosure relates to reverberation generation for headphone virtualization. A method of generating one or more components of a binaural room impulse response (BRIR) for headphone virtualization is described. In the method, directionally-controlled reflections are generated, wherein directionally-controlled reflections impart a desired perceptual cue to an audio input signal corresponding to a sound source location. Then at least the generated reflections are combined to obtain the one or more components of the BRIR. Corresponding system and computer program products are described as well.

Abstract: A method of calibrating a feedback-based noise cancellation system of an ear device may involve obtaining a measured plant response of the ear device, obtaining a reference plant response value and determining a plant response variation between the reference plant response value and a value corresponding to the measured plant response. The method may involve obtaining a measured a coupler response of the ear device, obtaining a reference coupler response value and determining a coupler response variation between the reference coupler response value and a value corresponding to the measured coupler response. The method may involve determining, based at least in part on the plant response variation and the coupler response variation, a microphone signal gain correction factor and applying the microphone signal gain correction factor to ear device microphone signals that are input to a feedback loop of the feedback-based noise cancellation system.

Abstract: Some headphone systems include two ear cups, a headband assembly, an interface system and a control system. Each ear cup may include an ear cup enclosure, an ear pad assembly, a speaker system and a hinge assembly. The hinge assembly may be disposed within the ear cup enclosure such that it is not visible from outside the ear cup. The headband assembly may connect with each of the ear cups via the hinge assembly. The interface system may include at least one interface and a plurality of input source buttons disposed on at least one of the ear cups. Each of the input source buttons may be configured for selecting a source of audio data received via the at least one interface. The control system may be configured for controlling the speaker system to reproduce audio data received via the interface and selected by one of the input source buttons.

Abstract: Embodiments are described for designing a filter in a magnitude domain performing an impedance filtering function over a frequency domain to compensate for directional cues for the left and right ears of the listener as a function of virtual source angles during headphone virtual sound reproduction. The filter is derived by obtaining blocked ear canal and open ear canal transfer functions for loudspeakers placed in a room, obtaining an open ear canal transfer function for a headphone placed on a listening subject, and dividing the loudspeaker transfer functions by the headphone transfer function to invert a headphone response at the entrance of the ear canal and map the ear canal function from the headphone to free field.
