Abstract: A nozzle for a fan assembly is described. The nozzle includes a first duct through which a first airflow moves, and a second duct through which a second airflow moves. The first duct has a first outlet for emitting the first airflow, and the second duct has a second outlet for emitting the second airflow. The first and the second outlets are arranged such that the first and second airflows collide to generate a combined airflow having a direction defined by the relative flow rates of the first and second airflows. The second duct has a constant restriction, and the first duct has a variable restriction to vary the flow rate of the first airflow.

Abstract: A fan assembly, including a fan body including an inlet surface defining an air inlet. A motor-driven impeller contained within the fan body generates an airflow. A filter assembly is arranged to removably engage with the fan body and to cover at least a portion of the inlet surface when engaged with the fan body. The filter assembly includes a filter and a housing for the filter, the housing being provided with a filter retention assembly for releasably retaining the filter in the housing, and a user interface for actuating the filter retention assembly to release the filter from the housing. Upon actuation of the filter retention assembly via the user interface, the filter is free to slide relative to the housing. Preferably, the user interface is positioned on the housing.

Abstract: There is provided an air-treatment device including an airflow generator for generating an airflow, an adsorbent material for adsorbing one or more airborne contaminants, the adsorbent material being arranged such that at least a portion of the airflow passes through the adsorbent material, a heater arranged to heat a portion of the adsorbent material to desorb adsorbed contaminants, and a photocatalytic reactor arranged to receive air containing the contaminants desorbed from the heated portion of adsorbent material. The photocatalytic reactor includes a photo-catalyst for photocatalytic degradation of one or more of the contaminants, and one or more light sources for illuminating the photo-catalyst to facilitate photocatalytic degradation. The air-treatment device is arranged such that at least a portion of the airflow that has not passed through the heated portion of the adsorbent material contacts the one or more light sources.

Abstract: A fan assembly, including a fan body including first and second retention assemblies and an inlet surface defining an air inlet. A motor-driven impeller contained within the fan body generates an airflow. A filter assembly attached to the fan body includes one or more flexible filter media, a first engagement element positioned at first edge of the filter media, and a second engagement element positioned at a second, opposite edge of the filter media. The filter assembly is furlable, and the first and second engagement elements releasably engage with the respective first and second retention assemblies of the fan body to retain the filter assembly tautly over the inlet surface in an at least partially unfurled state, such that, in use, airflow drawn through the air inlet by the motor-driven impeller is drawn through the filter media. The fan body is cylindrical in shape and the filter assembly wraps around substantially all the fan body.

The substrate is arranged to be illuminated by both the one or more first light-emitting diodes and the one or more second light-emitting diodes in order to facilitate photocatalytic degradation.
