Abstract: A BIERv6 packet forwarding method, device, and system. The method includes: receiving, by a first network device, a BIERv6 packet, where the first network device is a BFR or a BFER; determining, by the first network device, whether a value of a hop limit field in the BIERv6 packet is less than or equal to a preset threshold of the first network device, where the preset threshold is a value greater than or equal to 2, and is determined based on a quantity of one or more consecutive second network devices connected to the first network device, and the second network device is a device that does not support BIER forwarding; and when the value of the hop limit field in the BIERv6 packet is less than or equal to the preset threshold, avoiding, by the first network device, forwarding the BIERv6 packet.

Abstract: A first network device receives a BIER packet sent by a second network device, where the BIER packet includes an IPv6 header, a BIER header, and a multicast packet, a destination address of the IPv6 header or a first field of the BIER header carries a service identifier, and the service identifier identifies a virtual private network VPN instance. The first network device determines a VRF table based on the service identifier and a first correspondence, where the first correspondence includes a correspondence between the service identifier and the VRF table. The first network device sends the multicast packet to a first CE device in the VRF table based on the VRF table.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application disclose a method and an apparatus for transmitting a virtual private network segment identifier (VPN SID), and a network device. An egress node sends a VPN SID corresponding to the egress node to each node in a network, and indicates to each node to store the VPN SID of the egress node. In this way, both an ingress node and each intermediate node can sense and store the VPN SID. When a VPN service needs to be provisioned, because each node stores the VPN SID of the egress node, it is possible for each node to associate the VPN SID with a forwarding entry of the VPN service to be provisioned in a forwarding table, to implement VPN route convergence. In addition, for a of a VPN corresponding to the VPN SID and that is sent by a user side, both the ingress node and the intermediate node can guide forwarding of the packet based on a locally stored VPN SID, to implement VPN service-level control.

Abstract: This application provides a search apparatus, including a global dispatcher, a global arbiter, and N search engines. The N search engines can access a first search table. The global dispatcher is configured to: determine that a first search keyword is corresponding to the first search table and dispatch the first search keyword to the N search engines. Each search engine is configured to: search, according to a first search algorithm, one subtable to determine whether an entry that matches the first search keyword exists; and output a search result to the global arbiter.
