Abstract:
A rectangular thin film transducer head includes a magnetic core composed of overlapping laminations of permalloy film joined together magnetically and electrically, near an air gap, at one end of the rectangle, between the two laminations, which gap couples flux to the magnetic recording medium. Two electrically parallel insulated thin film copper windings starting at the end opposite the gap are deposited about the core joining electrically at the end adjacent to the gap to a conductor coupled to both permalloy laminations which conduct return current through the legs of the core inside of the windings. Alternatively, a single series winding passes around the core and through the gap. The head is manufactured by means of photolithographic, vacuum, and thin film techniques.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an error compensating arrangement for use with the deflection system in a conducting magnetic tube such as that of an electron microscope or the like. More particularly, compensating coils are provided to correct time lag errors due to eddy currents set up in permeable magnetic enclosures which surround the principal deflection coils and act essentially as pole-pieces.
Abstract:
An electrostatic field to manipulate charged particles in a narrow band filter prism and energy discrimination prism arrangement is obtained by employing high transparency opposing screen electrodes. Adjacent each screen electrode particle attractor apparatus act to attract all particles outside the narrow band of particles. In the narrow band filter arrangement collector apparatus are provided to collect particles within the narrow band while in the discrimination arrangement collector apparatus are provided to collect both particles having energies above the narrow band and particles having energies below the narrow band.
