Abstract: A magnetically sealed sliding window system including a perimetric frame including header and base portions each defining a narrow channel for receiving a glazing pane and an adjacent second channel. A sliding panel is seated within the second channel. Longitudinal magnets are secured on the inner face of the sliding panel. Where the perimetric frame is formed of nonmagnetic material, magnets also are secured along the header and base second channel sections. No magnets are required on the perimetric frame when same is formed of magnetic material such as steel. In sealed condition, the sliding panel is positioned above the floor of the base channel with the panel magnetically held. The magnets have longitudinally extending magnetic poles establishing a magnetic coupling between adjacent unlike poles. The height of the sliding panel is less than the height of the frame. Translation of the sliding panel first in a vertical direction, shifts the adjacent magnetic polarity so that repulsion force causes the sliding panel to be displaced into an offset vertical plane, disengaging the magnets dropping the sliding panel into the base channel and freeing same for translation in a horizontal direction. Release of the panel results in reestablishment of the magnetic coupling. A purchase is provided on the outer face of the sliding panel of facilitate translation of the panel. Ramps are provided when the frame is formed of magnetic material to displace the sliding panel into the offset vertical plane when the panel is vertically translated to dislodge the sliding panel from the magnetic coupling. A strip of ferrous material may be applied to the perimetric frame header and base sections if same are formed of nonmagnetic material.

Abstract: A unitary extruded weatherstrip for doors and the like including a flexible loop having a floating bulb therewithin connected to the wall of the loop and functioning as a secondary seal. The floating bulb under compression, prevents collapse of the loop inward or outward to provide an effective seal. The failure of the weaterstrip outwardly to collapse prevents its protrusion past the face of the door whereby to retain the aesthetic appearance of the installation. The same weatherstrip configuration can be employed on both the hinge and the lockside portions of the frame as well as along the header thereof. A rigid depending portion flange can be provided as a part of the weatherstrip extrusion to permit installation into the saw-kerf of wood door frames, for example, without requiring special tools.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a workpiece comprising first and second clamp members, and a transportable elongate member to which the clamp members are mounted and are operable for being shifted between work engaging and work releasing positions. In one form, the apparatus may be configured with clamp members capable of being fully removed from the elongate member and placed back thereon while maintaining the operability of the clamp members. At least one of the clamp members may be capable of being mounted on the elongate member in a plurality of directions, or may include jaw assemblies which are removable from and/or rotatable with respect to the elongate member. Abstract: A retainer for use in a refrigerator door or the like in which insulative material is foamed during a foaming process in the interior of the door. The door or the like is formed of separate shell and pan portions which have edges which are inserted in respective opposing slots of the retainer. Fins are provided on surfaces of the retainer opposite the shell and pan portion edges to form a seal therewith which retains the insulative material within the interior of the door during the foaming process. The fins are made of a material which is softer and more flexible than the material of the remainder of the retainer and the fins eliminate a need to clean foamed insulative material which leaks through the seams between the retainer and the shell and pan portions during the foaming process from the exterior surfaces of the shell and pan portions.

Abstract: A power tool in accordance with the invention includes a housing having a handle connected to the housing in at least one position and extending about the rear of the housing with first and second end portions positioned at least in part off the sides of the housing such that the handle allows an operator a range of locations about the housing to facilitate an effective two-handed grip to maintain control over the power tool. Abstract: A magnet support and retainer for post-construction installed interior storm windows formed as a unitary plastic extrusion having a U-shaped pane-receiving portion, a rigid magnet mounting portion and a connecting portion, preferably flexible, formed therebetween. The magnet mounting portion includes an elongate rigid planar strip having a pair of depending edge flanges defining a cavity for tightly receiving a strip magnet of generally rectangular cross-section and an intermediate depending flange including barb portions adapted to be received tightly within a facing groove formed in the magnet. The opposite magnet face is engaged upon a ferromagnetic strip or sash surface for installation of the storm window. Resilience is afforded sufficient to compensate for irregularities in the pane or in the cooperating ferromagnetic surface when the storm window is installed. The magnet is force fitted in the cavity enabling easy assembly.
