摘要: A method for the electrophoretic coating of workpieces with a coating medium, in particular lacquer, and a coating installation are described. In the method, at least one workpiece is immersed in the coating medium. With a voltage source, a d.c. voltage is applied between the workpiece and at least one electrode immersed in the coating medium. The d.c. voltage is increased continuously, in an essentially stepless manner, throughout virtually the entire coating operation in such a way that the coating current density on the surface of the workpiece remains essentially constant over time.

摘要: The invention relates to electrophoretic immersion lacquering of objects, e.g. the bodies of automotive vehicles, wherein the object which is to be lacquered is immersed into lacquer immersion basin containing a lacquer fluid. An electric field is produced by the object in its capacity as an electrode with at least one counter electrode. In order to determine the thickness of the lacquer layer applied in said manner, the electric charge flowing through the object during the immersion lacquering process and the surface of the object exposed to the lacquer fluid are determined in order to determine the thickness of the lacquer layer therefrom. The thickness of the lacquer coating can thus be determined during the immersion lacquering process, resulting in fewer rejects.

摘要: An electrophoretic dip coating plant comprises at least one dip tank, which is filled with a coating fluid. The objects which are to be coated are carried by means of a conveyor system through the coating fluid located in the dip tank and are then in electrical contact with a bus bar arrangement comprising an input and/or output region and a main region. The main region of the bus bar arrangement is connected to one terminal of a d.c. voltage supply unit. The other terminal of this d.c. voltage supply unit is electrically connected to at least one electrode which is immersed in the coating fluid in the dip tank. In order to enable the voltages which are applied to the adjacent regions of the bus bar arrangement to be regulated independently of one another, yet still to manage with a single d.c. voltage supply unit, the adjacent regions are connected together via a controllable semiconductor switch which is capable of transferring the voltage which is applied to the main region at a controllable magnitude to the input and/or output region of the bus bar arrangement.
