Abstract: Disclosed are a method for manufacturing an electrode, an electrode manufactured thereby, a membrane-electrode assembly including the electrode, and a fuel cell containing the membrane-electrode assembly. The method includes the steps of: preparing an electrode forming composition by mixing a catalyst with an ionomer; applying a low-frequency acoustic energy to the electrode forming composition to perform resonant vibratory mixing so as to coat the ionomer on the surface of the catalyst; and coating the electrode forming composition to manufacture an electrode.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst layer for a fuel cell, a method for producing the catalyst layer, and a membrane-electrode assembly and a fuel cell including the catalyst layer. More particularly, the invention relates to a catalyst layer for a fuel cell, the catalyst layer including a catalyst, a heat dissipation material, and an ionomer and having an effect that the heat generated by an exothermic reaction in the catalyst layer can be efficiently discharged to the outside and a phenomenon of deterioration of a membrane-electrode assembly caused by temperature increase in the catalyst layer can be suppressed; a method for producing the catalyst layer; and a membrane-electrode assembly and a fuel cell, both including the catalyst layer.

Abstract: Provided is a membrane-electrode assembly having improved binding strength between a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer and improved durability of the catalyst layer. An embodiment of the present invention provides a membrane-electrode assembly including a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer disposed on at least one surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane, wherein the catalyst layer contains a first composite and a second composite; the first composite contains a first catalyst containing a support and first metal particles supported on the support, and a first ionomer coated on the surface of the first catalyst; the second composite contains a second catalyst that contains second metal particles and is not supported on a support, and a second ionomer that is not coated on the surface of the second catalyst; and the first ionomer and the second ionomer are identical with or different from each other.

Abstract: A nanostructured electrode for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, a manufacturing method thereof, and a fuel cell including the nanostructured electrode are provided. The nanostructured electrode includes: a three-dimensional nanostructure including a nanoporous aerogel and an ionomer surrounding the surface of the aerogel; and a catalyst dispersed in the three-dimensional nanostructure. The electrode can obtain excellent current density and power density even with a relatively small amount of catalyst by having improved catalyst performance due to nanostructuring of an ionomer, uniform catalyst dispersion and increased catalyst utilization ratio, can also obtain a price reduction effect through a decrease in the amount of catalyst used, and is excellent in the mass transfer efficiency and low humidification performance.
