Abstract: Disclosed is a printing plate precursor comprising an aluminum support having been subjected to surface roughening treatment and then to anodizing treatment, and provided thereon, a component layer comprising an image formation layer containing heat melting particles or heat fusible particles, the support satisfying the following conditions (a) and (b): (a) a surface of the support contains a double structure with a waviness and small pits in the waviness; and (b) d1 is from 0.1 to 3 nullm, and a ratio h1/d1 is not more than 0.4, wherein d1 (nullm) represents an average aperture diameter of the small pits, and h1 (nullm) represents an average depth of the small pits.
