Abstract: A machine for winding electrical coils in ''''gang'''' style on an elongated arbor. The machine includes serving means for inserting a sheet of paper or other insulating material automatically between each successive layer of wire in each of the coils on the arbor. Each sheet is cut automatically to a length sufficient to wrap around the then-existing layers of wire in the coils, each sheet overlapping slightly at its beginning and terminal ends. Means are provided to commence serving each sheet at the same relative location on each coil, thus causing all the overlaps to occur at the same radial location on the coil. A generally elliptically shaped coil is formed.
