摘要： A counter assembly for use with coiling machinery for the measurement of line being wound or unwound on a reel includes a body, an upper arm, a lower arm, and a tensioner assembly. The body defines a central channel for passage of the line. Rollers are coupled to the upper and lower arms and used to press against the line. Movement of the line between the rollers causes at least one roller to rotate. Rotation is converted to a linear distance for accurate measurement. The upper arm has a pivot axis that is below a horizontal portion of the upper arm and is shared with the lower arm. The tensioner assembly is oriented to share the same vector components of motion as the pivoting upper arm. The tensioner assembly also permits adjustment in the resting spring force acting on the rollers.

摘要： The yarn tension is modulated by a yarn-braking device controlled by a control unit which receives signals of measured tension from a tension sensor and compares them with a reference tension signal in a control loop; as long as the reference tension remains unchanged, a first set of coefficients is used in the control loop causing the control loop to have a relatively slow behavior in relation to the error-compensating action; when a change in the reference tension occurs, the system switches to a second set of coefficients causing the control loop to have a relatively fast behavior; the second set of coefficients is maintained as long as the difference between the second value of the reference tension and the measured tension remains greater or equal to a predetermined minimum value, then the system switches again to the first set of coefficients.

摘要： A payoff ring constructed from high density polyethylene includes a beveled inner circumference that guides ductile wire, such as aluminum welding wire, from a coil packaged in a box-like container. The body of the payoff ring is fashioned with holes or cavities that significantly reduce the weight of the payoff ring by up to 50% of the overall weight. The payoff ring floats freely in the box-like container and guides the wire as it is being withdrawn from the container while not distorting the wire. The outer configuration of the payoff ring is constructed to engage to the sides of the container thereby preventing the payoff from rotating during use.

摘要： A package for containing and dispensing wire from a coil of wire having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a top and bottom defining a coil height comprising an outer carton having a rectangular bottom wall and four side panels extending upwardly from the bottom wall. The package further includes an octagonal inner liner having eight walls and wherein every other wall engages a portion of one of the side panels of the outer carton. The package has a planar retainer ring which engages the top of the wire coil and which has an opening forming an inner edge and an outer periphery comprising a plurality of nodes extending radially outwardly beyond the outer surface of the wire coil. Adjacent nodes are connected by a node edge extending inwardly across the outer surface of the coil, and at least one of the nodes interengages with the liner at a corner between adjacent walls thereof to prevent the retainer ring from rotating relative to the inner liner and to prevent the wire from passing the outer peripheral edge of the retainer ring.
