Abstract: Disclosed are a response device determination method and a response device determination apparatus. The method includes receiving audio signals from a plurality of devices respectively; extracting a plurality of distance information indicative of distances between the user and the plurality of devices from the audio signals respectively; and determining a response device to respond to the wake-up voice using the extracted plurality of distance information, wherein the response device is determined based on at least one of first and second steps according to a predetermined condition, wherein the first step includes comparing the extracted plurality of distance information with each other and determining the response device based on the comparison result, wherein the second step includes applying the extracted plurality of distance information to a deep neural network (DNN) model to obtain an application result and determining the response device based on the application result. Thus, in an environment where a plurality of devices recognize the same wake-up voice, the method may select a device to respond to a wake-up voice in response to a single utterance from the user so as to reflect intention of the user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting a voice-enabled device are disclosed. In the voice-enabled device selecting method, when recognition situation information is obtained from one device, voice signals may be obtained from that device and second devices registered to the same account as that device, and a device that will respond to the wakeup word may be selected based on the voice signals. Thus, even if the closest device the user intends to activate is not able to recognize a wakeup word spoken by the user due to the device's microphone position, that device may be selected as a voice-enabled device. At least one of a voice enable device selecting apparatus, an intelligent computing device, an IoT device, and a server controlling the voice enable device selecting apparatus may be associated with an artificial intelligence (AI) module, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (or drone), a robot, an augmented reality (AR) device, a virtual reality (VR) device, and a device related to a 5G service.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting a voice-enabled device are disclosed. The voice-enabled device selecting apparatus may reduce the amount of communication load between a home IoT server and home IoT devices and minimize the amount of computation of the home IoT server by obtaining information related to the direction from which each voice recognition device receives a wakeup word from a plurality of voice recognition devices, determining the position where the wakeup word is spoken by using the information related to the direction from which the wakeup word is received, and selecting the voice recognition device closest to the speech position as a voice-enabled device. At least one of the voice enable device selecting apparatus, IoT device, and a server may be associated with an artificial intelligence (AI) module, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (or drone), a robot, an augmented reality (AR) device, a virtual reality (VR) device, and a device related to a 5G service.
