Abstract: A biological analysis device (100) for performing capillary electrophoresis includes a voltage section (124) configured to generate a voltage differential across a cathode (106) connector and an anode (116) connector, an optical detector system (112) configured to detect light emission from a sample, a temperature regulation section (126), and a cartridge holding portion configured to receive at least a portion of a removable cartridge (102) comprising one or more capillaries (104) and a separation medium container (118). The biological analysis device may include one or more actuators (122) configured to actuate components of the removable cartridge when the removable cartridge is received in the cartridge holding portion.
