Abstract: A nonflammable composition resistor comprising a resistor body consisting essentially of finely divided conducting powder, silica powder and an additive powder dispersed in resin, said additive powder having a transforming temperature in the range from Tg*C to (Tg+200)*C, wherein Tg*C is a glass transition temperature of said resin. This nonflammable composition resistor is free from arcing, burning, charring and mechanical damage and exhibits an irreversible extreme increase of electrical resistance under serious overload conditions.
