Abstract: A free flight model airplane incorporating a timer for selectively energizing acutating mechanisms controlling the flight path of the airplane is disclosed. The timer includes a source for generating a train of pulses and a plurality of counters responsive to the train of pulses. One or more gates, selectively responsive to the output signals of one or more of the counters, energizes a mechanical actuator at selected time intervals, which mechanical actuator in turn alters the flight mode of the free flight model airplane. Provisions are also available to interrupt the timed sequence on command to effect immediate alteration of the flight mode.

Abstract: Automatic ice making apparatus for making cube ice, including a plurality of upright evaporators having opposite ice-forming surfaces defining plural cells for molding cube ice, water headers for discharging water downwardly onto the surfaces during the freezing cycle, and a compressor and condenser-receiver circuit including an auxiliary receiver circuit including an auxiliary receiver for supplying liquid refrigerant through an expansion valve to the evaporators during the freezing cycle. A conduit between the condenser-receiver and the auxiliary receiver is valved closed about a minute before the end of the freezing cycle to accumulate an overcharge of liquid refrigerant in the condenser-receiver to be converted to flash gas and transferred to the evaporators at the beginning of the harvesting cycle to aid defrost. Return of suction gas having enough wetness to absorb the heat out of the compressor walls during defrost is achieved, and make-up water to a sump is cooled by returning suction gas during the freezing cycle.

Abstract: A cube ice separator and screening machine for subdividing plural cube ice segments of connected cubes into disconnected individual cubes and separating smaller size fine pieces of ice therefrom, including an upwardly inclined conveyor screw and housing for feeding the ice along an upwardly inclined feed path. A network of rods forms an open ended cylindrical cage surrounding the conveyor screw along the upper portion of the feed path for breaking up the ice fragments into individual cubes and passage of the cubes through sized openings between the rods to a second conveyor station where the cubes and fine ice pieces are discharged along separate paths.

Abstract: An oil filter is formed from a pair of concentric wire frame cylinders having a cylinder of filter paper positioned between them. The filter paper is preferably made from fiber of 100 percent mercerized wood pulp, saturated by a melamineformaldehyde resin, which is 30 percent by weight. The preferred paper is 32.0 mils thick with an A.C. oil flow test of 150 secs/1,000cc and a Frazier Air Flow of 2.4 cubic feet per square foot of filter material, at a differential pressure of one-half inch of water. The maximum pore size is such that the bubble point is reached at a pressure of 40 inches of water.

Abstract: A high pressure butterfly valve having a pressure actuatable valve element that is flexed by fluid pressure to enhance the sealing ability of the valve in direct proportion to the pressure of the fluid controlled by the valve. The butterfly valve of this invention incorporates an annular seat element retained within the valve body by an upper valve actuating stem and a lower trunnion. A concavo-convex butterfly valve element is rotatably carried by the trunnion and valve actuating stem with the convex surface thereof facing upstream in the closed position. The valve element is capable of flexing responsive to application of fluid pressure in this manner as to expand the peripheral sealing surfaces thereof and enhance the mechanical sealing pressure as fluid pressure increases. The butterfly element also floats relative to the trunnion and valve stem thereby allowing the valve element to float or self-align itself to obtain optimum sealing engagement as pressure is applied by the fluid controlled by the valve.

Abstract: A mail sorting apparatus having an operator''s console equipped with key-operated switches has a selector section positioned intermediate a mail or parcel propelling device and a diverter section which includes sorted mail receiving trays. Operation of any of the key switches selects a particular related channel or chute in the selector section and a particular related diverter door to be opened in the diverter section so as to present one path which that iemt of mail or parcel post must follow to the desired receiving tray.
