Abstract: A jig which allows hardwood flooring or other building material to be cut to an exact length to fit with precision between two fixed pieces of building material. The jig includes a marking member which attaches to a workpiece which is positioned with one end abutted to a fixed piece of building material and the other end extending beyond a second fixed piece of building material. The marking member attaches to the workpiece in such a way that it is secured in a precise position relative to the second fixed piece of building material. The jig also includes a receiving member which is affixed to a cutting device. The marking member, when aligned with the receiving member, serves as a saw guide that allows consistent cuts to be made so that the workpiece will fit with precision between the two fixed pieces of building material.

Abstract: A slat roller wherein the translation of slats permits a non-normal angle of incidence of a moving web to the longitudinal axis of the roller. The non-normal angle of incidence and the translation of the slats permit the axial movement of the web when the web is in contact with slats of the roller. One or more of the slat rollers may be employed in a system for inverting a moving web of indefinite length material.

Abstract: A diverting roller has a roller body having a longitudinal axis. A plurality of pairs of pulleys are rotatably mounted on the roller body adjacent a circumference of the roller body. An endless belt is looped around each of the pairs of pulleys in such a fashion that each belt has substantial portion oriented in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the roller body. The travel of belts around their respective pulleys permits a non-normal angle of incidence of the web to the longitudinal axis. The non-normal angle of incidence and the travel of the belts permit the axial movement of a web of indefinite length material when the web is in contact with belts of the diverting roller. One or more of the diverting rollers may be employed in a system for inverting a moving web of indefinite length material.

Abstract: A device and method for applying a segment of weatherstrip includes advancing a continuous supply of weatherstrip to a cutting station. The weatherstrip has a face at least partially covered with an adhesive and a removable liner attached to the adhesive on the face. A first portion of the weatherstrip is positioned upstream of a cutting station and a second portion is positioned downstream of the cutting station. The liner is removed from the first portion of the weatherstrip prior to the weatherstrip advancing into the cutting station to define a loop of removed liner section, and a portion of the removed liner section is attached to the second portion of the weatherstrip, thereby defining a reapplied liner section on the second portion of the weatherstrip. The advance of the weatherstrip past the cutting station is stopped and the weatherstrip is cut at the cutting station proximate a cut point to define an individual segment of weatherstrip with adhesive thereon. The reapplied liner section is drawn away from the cutting station, thereby pulling the weatherstrip segment to a lay down assembly while the advance of the first portion of the weatherstrip remains stopped. The reapplied liner section is then removed from the weatherstrip segment.
