摘要: A power steering apparatus for an automobile or other vehicle has a motor which rotates a steering shaft through an electromagnetic clutch and a worm gear reduction gear. When the clutch is engaged, the rotation of the motor causes the rotation of the steering shaft. When the clutch is disengaged, the steering shaft is not connected to either the reduction gear or the motor and can therefore be rotated manually with the same force as for a manual steering apparatus. The reduction gear and the electromagnetic clutch are coaxially disposed around the steering shaft.

摘要: A motor-driven power steering system for a vehicle preventing transmission of operating noises of the motor to the interior of the passenger compartment of the vehicle and for suppressing the generation of radio wave noises: a speed sensor for detecting the travelling speed of the vehicle; a torque sensor mounted on a steering shaft for detecting turning force imparted to the steering wheel by an operator, a first pinion operatively connected with the steering shaft and adapted to be driven by the steering wheel through the intermediary of the steering shaft, a rack operatively connected through tie rods with a pair of steerable road wheels and having a first rack tooth portion and a second rack tooth portion formed thereon, a second pinion being in meshing engagement with the second rack tooth portion on the rack, a motor operatively connected with the second pinion for power assisting the steering motion of the rack induced by the operator a first electromagnetic clutch interposed between the motor and the second pinion for transmitting power therebetween substantially in proportion to the intensity of current supplied thereto, a second clutch interposed between the motor and the second pinion for selectively establishing or disconnecting the operative connection between the motor and the second pinion, and a control unit adapted to receive output signals from the speed sensor and the torque sensor for controlling the operations of the motor, the first clutch and the second clutch.

摘要: A power steering apparatus for an automobile or other vehicle has a steering shaft constituted by an input section and an output section connected by a torsion bar. A mechanism for detecting when a driver is imparting torque to the steering wheel of the vehicle is constituted by a potentiometer having a resistive element and a wiper arm, one of which is mounted on the output section and the other of which is mounted on the torsion bar so that the wiper arm will rotate with respect to the resistive element and the resistance of the potentiometer will change when the torsion bar is rotated with respect to the output section. The potentiometer is electrically connected to a preamplifier mounted on the steering shaft, and the preamplifier is electrically connected to slip rings through which its output can be supplied to a stationary control unit. The electrical output of the potentiometer is independent of the speed of rotation of the steering wheel.

摘要: A motorized power steering apparatus is equipped with a torque sensor including a primary potentiometer for detecting a steering torque applied to the steering wheel by a driver. The torque sensor further includes an auxiliary potentiometer so as to detect variations in the output voltage of a constant voltage power supply to the potentiometers. When there is a difference between the outputs of the primary and auxiliary potentiometers which is greater than a prescribed level, a fail-safe relay is turned off to nullify the power steering operation of a motor. When the output voltage of the power supply for supplying a constant voltage to the primary and auxiliary potentiometers drops below or rises above a predetermined level, the output voltage of the auxiliary potentiometer, which is not used for power steering control, is raised. This increases the difference between the output voltages of the potentiometers to a detectable level, whereby a fail-safe operation is carried out to nullify the power steering operation of the electric motor. Thus, the steering wheel is prevented, in a reliable manner, from being turned spontaneously or unintentionally against the driver's will due to variations in the neutral point of the torque sensor resulting from fluctuations in the voltage supplied thereto.

摘要: Output signals from first and second speed sensors are inputted in a control unit to measure a car speed on the basis of the signals. When the measured value is higher than a predetermined value, control unit determines that one of the speed sensors is abnormal, whereby a motor current to be fed to a d.c. motor is interrupted and a voltage applied to a magnetic clutch is removed.
