    Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from the appropriate handling of transitioning between connections. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from appropriate handling of further access attempts in a conditional handover scenario. A method can include receiving, at a user equipment, an access configuration information element configured to describe a user equipment behavior during an access phase of a conditional handover. The method can also include, upon detecting a failed access to the target for which the access condition has triggered, attempting to access a candidate cell among suitable candidate cells that have been previously configured for conditional handover.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprising means for performing: receiving, while connected to a first cell, preparation information for preparing the apparatus for a conditional handover of the apparatus to at least one other cell; receiving, from the first cell, a message, wherein the message causes the apparatus to transition from a connected state to an inactive state; receiving, from the first cell, information of a release condition; when it is determined that the release condition is met, sending a release indication and releasing the preparation information from the apparatus.

    Abstract: A PCell for a UE participates in a first phase to add a PSCell to a set of cells including the PCell to be used by the UE for a MCHO, comprising determining that the UE is to participate in the MCHO, and sending indications of at least resources for selected ones of multiple candidate cells toward the UE for use for the MCHO. The PCell participates in a second phase to add the PSCell to the set, comprising determining by the PCell which of the selected multiple cells has been accessed by the UE as the PSCell. The PCell participates in a swap from being the PSCell for the UE to becoming a current PSCell for the UE, wherein the PSCell is swapped from the PSCell to being a current PCell for the UE. The current PSCell participates in a release of a connection to the UE.
