    摘要: An HDLC accelerator includes a deframer and framer to respectively accelerate the deframing and framing processes for PPP packets. The deframer includes an input interface unit, a detection unit, a conversion unit, and an output interface unit. The input interface unit receives a packet of data to be deframed. The detection unit evaluates each data byte to detect for special bytes (e.g., flag, escape, and invalid bytes). The conversion unit deframes the received data by removing flag and escape bytes, “un-escaping” the data byte following each escape byte, providing a header word for each flag byte, and checking each deframed packet based on a frame check sequence (FCS) value associated with the packet. The output interface unit provides deframed data and may further perform byte alignment in providing the deframed data. A state control unit provides control signals indicative of specific tasks to be performed for deframing.

    摘要: A method and system for transferring data bytes includes a first memory adapted to store a plurality of multiple-byte data words including header field bytes and one or more data field bytes. The system also includes a second memory adapted to store data field bytes transferred thereto from the first memory. A controller coupled to the first and second memories reads a data word including the header field byte and the one or more data field bytes out of the first memory. The system also includes a data packer coupled to the controller and the second memory. The controller and data packer cooperate to transfer the one or more data field bytes of the first data word read from the first memory to the second memory. The data packer stores only the one or more data field bytes in the second memory contiguously with a previously transferred and stored data field byte.

    摘要: To access a first communication system, a terminal determines a transmission time for an access probe, an expected response time from the system, and a protected time interval based on the transmission time and/or expected response time. The terminal determines a starting time for sending the access probe such that the protected time interval does not overlap a tune-away interval in which the terminal is to monitor anther frequency/air-interface. This starting time may be set initially to the end of a prior access probe plus a pseudo-random wait duration and may be advanced forward or moved backward in time, if needed, by a time duration selected such that the protected time interval does not overlap the tune-away interval.

The method comprises providing the WCD with a primary transceiver and a secondary receiver for conducting wireless communications in a spatial diversity for the second network traffic or broadcast; disabling the secondary receiver and spatial diversity before a paging slot or 1x system acquisition and synchronization attempts; tuning the secondary receiver to a first network carrier frequency to perform first network activities; and retuning the secondary receiver to a second network carrier frequency for spatial diversity after performing the first network activities. The first network activities may include pilot set maintenance, overhead message maintenance, page match detection, or 1x system acquisition and synchronization attempts.

    摘要: A hybrid access terminal is a Wireless Communication Device (WCD) capable of operating over different types of communication networks. An exemplary WCD operates on both IS-2000 and IS-856 networks, and is capable of inter-system handoffs between these two types of networks. Such capabilities enable the exemplary WCD to provide voice, data and short messaging services on IS-2000 networks, and also to provide high speed packet data service on IS-856 networks. A method of operating on different networks includes establishing a data session on the first network, detecting a request for a packet data service, handing-off the data session to a second network, detecting a dormancy of the data session, transitioning to a dormant state and initiating a Dormancy time-out period when the dormancy is detected, and monitoring both the first network and the second network for paging messages while in the dormant state.

    摘要: A system and method of improving wireless communications between a wireless communication device and both a first network supporting voice and data services and a second network supporting packet data services. The method comprises providing the WCD with a primary transceiver and a secondary receiver for conducting wireless communications in both a simultaneous-mode and a hybrid-mode; performing simultaneous-mode-to-hybrid-mode and hybrid-mode-to-simultaneous-mode transitions based on a performance metric; and evaluating the performance metric to determine whether to perform the mode transitions. In the simultaneous-mode, the primary transceiver conducts wireless communications in the second network and the secondary receiver conducts wireless communications in the first network. In the hybrid-mode, the primary transceiver use is time multiplexed during all of the first and second networks communications combinations. When the metric measures below a threshold, the WCD reverts from one mode to another mode at paging slot wake-ups.
