    Abstract: A binaural hearing aid system includes first and second hearing aids configured to be worn by a user at or in respective first and second ears of the user, each of the first and second hearing aids including: at least one input transducer configured to pick up a sound at the at least one input transducer and to convert the sound to at least one electric input signal representative of the sound, the sound at the at least one input transducer including a mixture of a target signal and noise; a controller for evaluating the sound at the at least one input transducer and providing a control signal indicative of a property of the sound; a transceiver configured to establish a communication link between the first and second hearing aids allowing the exchange of the control signal between the first and second hearing aids; a transmitter for establishing an audio link for transmitting the at least one electric input signal, or a processed version thereof, to another device. The controller is configured to: transmit the locally provided control signal to, and receive a corresponding remotely provided control signal from the opposite hearing aid via the communication link, and to compare the locally provided and the remotely provided control signals and to provide a comparison control signal in dependence thereof, and to transmit the at least one electric input signal, or a processed version thereof, to the another device via the audio link in dependence of the comparison control signal.

    Abstract: A method of programming a configurable signal processing unit of a hearing aid device comprises Providing a frequency transposition algorithm in the hearing aid device where content from more than one upper-lying source frequency band is copied or moved into one and the same lower lying destination frequency band; Providing a number of frequency transposition configurations, each comprising a specific combination of source regions and a destination region; Providing a weight parameter that specifies the amount of gain applied to a lowered signal resulting from a given frequency transposition configuration; and Providing a prescription algorithm that selects an optimum frequency transposition configuration for an ear of a user taking an audiogram for the ear in question and an amplification capability of the hearing aid device in question into account. A purpose of the disclosure is to provide an improved audibility of high frequency sound for users with severe-to-profound hearing losses.

    Abstract: A hearing system includes first and second hearing devices adapted for being located at first and second ears of a user, or for being fully or partially implanted in the head at the left and right ears of the user. The first hearing device includes a forward path having a1) an input transducer for converting a sound at the first hearing device to a first electric input signal including the sound; a processor for processing the first electric input signal, or a signal originating therefrom, and providing a first processed signal in dependence of a reduced hearing ability of the user at the first ear; an output unit adapted for providing stimuli perceivable as sound for the user at the first ear based on the first processed signal. The first hearing device further includes an analysis path having a first filter for filtering the first electric input signal and providing a first filtered signal in dependence of the reduced hearing ability of the user at the first ear; and transmitter circuitry configured to allow transmission of the first filtered signal to the second hearing device. The second hearing device includes receiver circuitry configured to allow reception of the first filtered signal from the first hearing device, and an output unit adapted for providing stimuli perceivable as sound for the user at the second ear based on the first filtered signal or a processed version thereof.

    Abstract: The present invention regards a binaural hearing system comprising a first hearing device and a second hearing device. Each of the hearing devices comprises a power source, an environment sound input, a link unit and electric circuitry. The environment sound input is configured to receive sound from an acoustic environment and to generate an environment sound signal. The link unit is configured to transmit the environment sound signal from the hearing device comprising the link unit to a link unit of the other hearing device of the binaural hearing system and to receive a transmitted environment sound signal from the other hearing device. The electric circuitry of each of the hearing devices is configured to process and environment sound signals and transmitted environment sound signals and to estimate a respective time delay between the environment sound signal and the transmitted environment sound signal based on the corresponding processed signals. The electric circuitry is configured to apply the respective time delay to the transmitted environment sound signal to generate a time delayed transmitted environment sound signal. The electric circuitry is configured to subtract the equalized (at least time delayed) transmitted environment sound signal from the environment sound signal to receive an equalized-cancelled environment sound signal, and to determine a target signal and/or a noise signal based thereon.
