Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a UE transmits, to a base station, a sidelink positioning reference signal (PRS) indication. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a transmitting user equipment (UE) may determine a data packet to transmit to another UE and determine a set of candidate resources for transmission of the data packet based on a set of time-frequency resources that are allocated for UE-to-UE communications. A resource reservation signal (RRS) may be transmitted to indicate to other UEs that the set of candidate resources have been reserved by a UE. The RRS may be transmitted such that the RRS may be differentiated from other regular transmissions based at least in part on information provided by a control channel associated with the RRS or a payload of a transmission that includes the RRS. The RRS may indicate one or more of a size of an allocation of the resources and multiple locations of the resources within a time-frequency resource pool.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) and a base station may establish communications using a first radio access technology (RAT). The first UE may receive control signaling indicating a configuration for a coexistence of resources between the first RAT and a second RAT, the coexistence of resources indicating an initial quantity of UEs in a system that use the first RAT or the second RAT. During a measurement period, the first UE may measure a control channel (e.g., a sidelink control channel) of the second RAT and determine an initial partition of the resources. The initial partition of the resources may indicate a quantity of resources to be used for transmissions by the first UE and the second UE. For example, a first group of the initial partition of the resources may be associated with the second RAT.

Abstract: A group of user equipment (UEs) for sidelink communications includes a master UE and member UEs. Any of the UE may measure one or more sidelink synchronization signal sources during a configured measurement gap within the sidelink communications with the group of UEs. A member UE may transmit an alternative synchronization source report indicating detected synchronization sources to the master UE. The master UE is configured to determine to change from a first synchronization source to a second synchronization source for sidelink communications with a group of UEs. The master UE is configured to transmit, to the group of UEs, timing assistance information for synchronization with the second synchronization source. The UEs are configured to switch sidelink communications with the group of UEs to the second synchronization source.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may activate an independent synchronization source mode based on one or more conditions associated with the first device. The independent synchronization source mode may correspond to the first device operating as reference for synchronization. The first device may transmit one or more synchronization signals indicating a device type of the first device and indicating that the first device is operating as the reference for synchronization. For example, the first device may select one or more bits or an identifier corresponding to the device type to include in the one or more synchronization signals. A second device receiving the one or more synchronization signals may select the first device as a reference for synchronization based on the device type. The second device may synchronize with the first device using the synchronization signal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for reducing user equipment (UE measurement overhead by using an external source are described. A UE or a network may be capable of obtaining location-specific cell coverage information from an external source (such as a coverage map or a database). The network may use the coverage information to configure a measurement gap for the UE. For example, the UE may be located in a cell with relatively high coverage quality compared to that of a neighboring cell, according to the external source. Based on the relative coverage quality, the network may reduce the periodicity of the UE measurements, change the measurement gap to be aperiodic, or configure the UE to refrain from measuring.
