Abstract: A high-speed data cable includes first and second electrical connectors at each end of the cable. A first connector housing is mounted on the first electrical connector, and a second connector housing is mounted on the second electrical connector. The first connector housing includes a first outer periphery and a first mechanical key on the first outer periphery. The first mechanical key engages a first complementary key on a first housing for a first device to define a single orientation by which the first electrical connector plugs into the first device. The second connector housing includes a second outer periphery and a second mechanical key on the second outer periphery. The second mechanical key engages a second complementary key on a second housing for a second device to define a single orientation by which the second electrical connector plugs into the second device.

Abstract: An I/O system including an I/O base, and at least one I/O module mechanically and electrically coupled with the I/O base. The I/O module includes a locking actuator assembly having a locking actuator movable from a first unlocked position to a second locked position, the locking actuator configured to interlock with the I/O base to secure the I/O module to the base when in the second position, and a sensor for sensing a position of the locking actuator and generating a signal indicative of the position of the locking actuator.
