    Abstract: Cross-compatible VSFF connection systems include optical connectors that are compatible with at least two types of adapters and adapters that are compatible with at least two types of optical connectors. Optical connectors have one or both of connector latch recesses and depressible latches, and likewise adapters have one or both of adapter latch arms and adapter latch recesses. Dual latch function connectors and adapters are capable of connection to a mating components that have only one type of latch structure, e.g., only recesses or only latches. Connection systems can be duplex or MT and may facilitate push-pull boot remote release and polarity change.

    Abstract: In a fiber optic connector, a ferrule body is received in a connector housing. A displaceable guide pin is movable in relation to the ferrule body. A spring yieldably biases the displaceable guide pin forward along a longitudinal axis of the fiber optic connector. The displaceable guide pin is displaced backward along the longitudinal axis in relation to the ferrule body and resiliently compresses the spring as the fiber optic connector is connected to another fiber optic component. In a multifiber ferrule assembly, a ferrule base is connected to a ferrule body. A displaceable guide pin is movably connected to the ferrule body for movement in relation to the ferrule body along a longitudinal axis between an extended position and a retracted position. A spring between the displaceable guide pin and the ferrule base yieldably biases the displaceable guide pin to the extended position.

    Abstract: A multiple push-on (MPO) optical connector is provided having a ferrule configured to house multiple optical fibers and a housing having a distal end in a connection direction configured to hold the ferrule. The housing further includes a pair of proximal apertures and at least one proximal groove. A backpost has a distal end that urges the ferrule toward the distal end of the housing and a proximal end configured to receive a crimp ring. The backpost includes a pair of proximally extending latch arms that reverse latch in the proximal apertures of the housing. To strengthen the connector in side-loading environments, the backpost further includes a reinforcing rib that is received in the housing proximal groove. In a further aspect, the proximal end of the backpost may include a neck with an approximately curved side profile that, following crimping with a stepped crimp ring, results in an angled crimp.

A one-piece housing-backpost is provided having a distal end in a connection direction and a proximal end in a cable direction. The one-piece housing-backpost is configured to receive a ferrule spring and the ferrule from the distal end. The housing-backpost includes at least one resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion extending from a sidewall to engage the corresponding stepped portion of the ferrule. The resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion is configured to deform towards the housing-backpost interior sidewall as the ferrule is inserted from the distal end and to extend outward against the stepped portion of the ferrule when the ferrule is seated in the housing-backpost to maintain the ferrule in the housing-backpost.

    Abstract: Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a push/pull clip that is configured to depress a protrusion that rotates down a connector device to remove the connector assembly from an adapter. The push/pull clip is integrated with a cable boot assembly that allows a user to apply a distal force to remove or insert the connector assembly into the adapter housing.     Abstract: Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a latch component that is removably connected to the housing. The connector may furthermore include a push-pull tab removably connected to the housing and configured to move horizontally along the outer surface of housing when a biasing force is applied in at least one of a forward direction and a rearward direction. Accordingly, the push-pull tab can compress the latch component when moving horizontally along the housing, and an inverted ramp at a proximal end of the push/pull, the ramp aides in depressing the latch downward to release the connector from a receptacle.
