Abstract: In a connector for terminating a cable, a connector housing has a rear end portion including a first shoulder. An inner connector assembly is received in the connector housing. The inner connector assembly includes at least one ferrule exposed and a back body with a back post. At least one strength member is secured to the back post. A rear bracing member is received in the connector housing. The rear bracing member has a front end portion and a rear end portion spaced apart along the longitudinal axis. The front end portion of the rear bracing member is configured to engage the back body and the rear end portion of the rear bracing member is configured to engage the first shoulder of the connector housing such that the rear bracing member substantially braces the back body against rearward displacement along the longitudinal axis relative to the connector housing.

Abstract: A fiber optic connector having a ferrule that forms an optical connection with another fiber optic connector. An outer housing supports the ferrule and has a front end portion and a longitudinal centerline axis. The front end portion includes a front end face with a portion of the ferrule being forward of the front end face. The front end portion includes a protector that is shaped and arranged to protect the ferrule. The protector is arranged so that the fiber optic connector and another fiber optic connector of identical construction can, starting in the same orientation, be mated together by rotating said other fiber optic connector 180° about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal centerline axis, aligning the longitudinal centerline axes and moving the fiber optic connectors along the longitudinal centerline axes until the fiber optic connectors are mated to form the optical connection.

Abstract: An optical connection system for use with a receptacle and an optical cable assembly includes an adapter and connector. The adapter has an adapter latch element, and the connector has a connector latch element. A delatch actuator with a delatch arm is disposed on the connector housing for movement from a locking position to an unlocking position. One of the adapter latch element and connector latch element is a bendable latch hook and the other is a locking channel. When the connector housing is mated with the adapter, the delatch arm allows the bendable latch hook to latch with the locking channel in the locking position and unlatches the bendable latch hook from the locking channel as it moves to the unlocking position. An actuator lock movably supports a blocking member on the connector for selectively blocking the delatch actuator from moving to the unlocking position.

Abstract: Connection systems for use in fiber optic communication networks and systems are disclosed. Embodiments of backplane connection systems are disclosed that include a daughterboard connector that can make with a backplane connector. One of the connectors can include a movable latch element that can bend a bendable arm on the other connector to latch and unlatch the connectors. A connector can include a movable blocking element that prevents a latch control element from moving its full range when the connectors are disconnected. A latch control element can have a range of motion along which it maintains the connection system in a latched configuration. A mounting system is also disclosed that permits a connector to flow or move along the board in a limited range of motion with respect to three axes.

Abstract: An optoelectronic module and optoelectronic connector assemblies can be used for releasable connection of a laser source to the module from a location exterior to the module. The construction of the optoelectronic connector assemblies is such that both in connection and disconnection, the electrical contacts are broken before the optical contacts so that the laser may power down before the optical connection is broken. The optoelectronic connection assemblies have blind mating features. Some versions are free of any latching or mechanical interconnection of the optoelectronic connector assemblies to each other. A spring has a construction which permits it to be received onto a cable by lateral movement of the spring.

Abstract: A reversible polarity fiber optic connector includes an outer housing including a polarity key for coupling the outer housing to a fiber optic receptacle in only one orientation. A ferrule assembly is received in the outer housing in a first position corresponding to a first polarity of the fiber optic connector and in a second position corresponding to a second polarity of the fiber optic connector. The ferrule assembly forms an optical connection with the fiber optic receptacle. A boot assembly is releasably connected to the outer housing to enable the ferrule assembly to be inserted into and removed from the outer housing. The boot assembly includes a rotor rotatable between locked and release positions. The rotor includes a blocking portion to block disconnection of the boot assembly with the outer housing in the locked position and to permit disconnection of the boot assembly with the outer housing in the release position.

Abstract: A fiber optic connector includes a housing having proximal and distal ends and a latch for securing the fiber optic connector to an adapter housing. A ferrule forms an optical connection with a second fiber optic connector. The ferrule is disposed distally of the housing. A spring holder operatively couples the ferrule to the housing. Abstract: An outdoor rated assembly is configured to blind mate opposing fiber optic connectors. Abstract: A multiple fiber push-on (MPO) optical connector is provided having a ferrule configured to house multiple optical fibers and including a stepped portion extending from at least one pair of opposing exterior surfaces of the ferrule. A one-piece housing-backpost is provided having a distal end in a connection direction and a proximal end in a cable direction. The resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion is configured to deform towards the housing-backpost interior sidewall as the ferrule is inserted from the distal end and to extend outward against the stepped portion of the ferrule when the ferrule is seated in the housing-backpost to maintain the ferrule in the housing-backpost.

Abstract: Switchable housings and connector assemblies for connections to high density panels are disclosed, as well as components thereof. A connector assembly may include cable assembly connectors configured to engage with a mating connector in a first direction. A latching portion may be configured to engage and selectively disengage the cable assembly connector with the mating connector. A switchable housing may contain release members configured to contact the latching portion and provide a compressing force sufficient to selectively disengage the cable assembly connector from the mating connector and a pull tab assembly in contact with the release members. Movement of the pull tab assembly in a second direction may cause the pull tab assembly to compress the one or more release members, thereby causing the one or more release members to provide the compressing force to disengage the cable assembly connector from the mating connector.
