    Abstract: Various aspects of the subject technology relate to systems, methods, and machine-readable media for visualizing performance data of infrastructure components. The method includes receiving a query through an application for a metric for an infrastructure component, the metric comprising metric time series (MTS) data. The method also includes identifying sources for the metric. The method also includes querying the identified sources for the metric. The method also includes selecting from the identified sources best available data for the metric based on a selection algorithm. The method also includes enriching the best available data comprising linking dimensions and properties from the identified sources to the best available data. The method also includes causing display of the enriched best available data through a user interface of the application.

    Abstract: According to embodiments, a data stream including a plurality of time series data is received and metadata objects are extracted from the data stream. The metadata objects are associated with metrics time series (MTS) objects. The metadata objects and MTS objects are stored via separate in-memory data structures in a logical database. The in-memory data structures include information that correlates the metadata objects with the MTS objects. Any updates to the metadata objects will stay with the metadata objects and do not propagate to the MTS objects. A logical in-memory join may be performed to associate the metadata objects with the appropriate MTS object according to the in-memory data structures when a query for an MTS object is received.

    Abstract: Metric time series (MTS) data objects stored within in-memory storage are marked as inactive in response to determining that no MTS data has been received for the MTS objects within a first predetermined time period. In response to determining that an MTS object has been inactive for longer than a second predetermined time period, the MTS data object is migrated from in-memory storage to on-disk storage. Queries directed to MTS objects are first run against MTS object data stored within in-memory storage, and then against MTS object data stored within on-disk storage. In this way, an amount of in-memory storage needed to store MTS objects may be minimized, while optimizing search performance.
