Abstract: A mould for the manufacture of plastic articles consists of a precipitation-hardening alloyed steel containing up to 0.05% carbon, 5-7% nickel, 4.5-7% manganese, up to 2% molybdenum, the remainder, apart from impurities, being iron. A blank is first soft-annealed, subsequently machined to the desired shape, hardened by a heat-treatment, and finally polished.
