Abstract: An electrical steel sheet includes a main surface and an end surface. The electrical steel sheet includes a base material part and an end surface nitrided layer that is provided on the end surface in a manner adjacent to the base material part and that contains nitrogen. The end surface nitrided layer has a surface hardness of 430 HV or more and 1250 HV or less. The end surface contains nitrogen in an amount higher than a nitrogen concentration at the main surface.

Abstract: A process includes forming a printed article having an external surface and at least one microfeature with an internal surface by additive manufacture, coating the external surface and the internal surface of the printed article with a metallic microlayer to form a coated article, and densifying the coated article to form a component. After formation, the printed article has a porosity such that the printed article is not at full density. A densified component includes a printed article having an external surface and at least one microfeature with an internal surface and a metallic microlayer coating the external surface and the internal surface of the printed article. The printed article is formed by additive manufacture.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a low-density clad steel sheet, including: preparing a base material, a lightweight steel sheet including C: 0.3 to 1.0%, Mn: 4.0 to 16.0%, Al: 4.5 to 9.0%, and Fe; preparing cladding materials, each being martensitic carbon steel including C: 0.1 to 0.45%, Mn: 0.1 to 3.0%, and Fe; disposing the base material between the cladding materials to obtain a laminate; welding an edge of the laminate, and heating the welded laminate to 1050 to 1350° C.; finish-rolling the heated laminate to 750 to 1050° C. with a rolling reduction ratio of 30% or more in a first pass, to obtain a hot-rolled steel sheet; coiling the hot-rolled steel sheet at 400 to 700° C.; applying a cold-reduction ratio of 35 to 90% to obtain a cold-rolled steel sheet; and annealing the cold-rolled steel sheet at 550° C. or higher and A3+200° C. or lower of the cladding materials.

Abstract: A method for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet includes: heating a steel slab containing a specific composition; subsequently performing hot rolling; performing hot-band annealing as necessary; performing cold rolling either once or two or more times with intermediate annealing between each rolling to obtain a cold-rolled sheet having a final sheet thickness; performing primary recrystallization annealing which also serves as decarburization annealing; and performing finishing annealing. In the method for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, the heating temperature for the slab is 1300° C. or higher. In the rough rolling of the hot rolling, one of rolling passes is performed in the temperature range of 1200° C. or higher, and subsequently, a next rolling pass is performed in an opposite direction after a time interval of 5 seconds or longer, with a total rolling reduction of the rough rolling achieved 75% or higher.

Abstract: The hot dip galvannealed steel sheet of the present disclosure has a base steel sheet and a plating layer. The base steel sheet has a predetermined chemical composition by mass %. An existence ratio ER of internal oxides identified under predetermined conditions by observation of the cross-section of the base steel sheet is 40% or less and an interval I of internal oxides is 300 μm or more. The hot dip galvannealed steel sheet of the present disclosure is excellent in appearance etc.

Abstract: A steel sheet has a chemical composition containing, by mass %, C: 0.20% or more and 0.40% or less, Si: more than 1.0% and 3.0% or less, Mn: 1.5% or more and 3.5% or less, P: 0.002% or more and 0.010% or less, S: 0.0002% or more and 0.0020% or less, sol. Al: 0.40% or less (not including 0%), and N: 0.0100% or less, with the balance being Fe and incidental impurities; and a steel microstructure containing, in area fraction, tempered martensite: 45% or more and 83% or less, bainite: 15% or more and 53% or less, and retained austenite: 2% or more. Carbides in the tempered martensite have an average particle size of 0.40 μm or less, an average amount of C in the retained austenite is 0.5% by mass or more, and a tensile strength is 1,470 MPa or more.

Abstract: Provided is a steel sheet for a hot press formed member having excellent painting adhesion and post-painting corrosion resistance, and a method for manufacturing the same. A steel sheet for hot press forming according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a base steel sheet and a plated layer formed on a surface of the base steel sheet, wherein the ratio of an area occupied by pores to the entire area of a surface layer portion may be 10% or more in a cross section of the surface layer portion observed when the plated layer is cut in a thickness direction thereof.
