    Abstract: A display device having an optical panel with improved light extraction efficiency and light conversion efficiency is provided. The display device includes a first substrate, first to third light-emitting elements arranged on the first substrate, an encapsulation layer covering the first to third light-emitting elements, a first light blocking layer arranged on the encapsulation layer, the first light blocking layer including first openings respectively corresponding to the first to third light-emitting elements, a reflective layer arranged on the first light blocking layer, the reflective layer corresponding to an inner surface of each of the first openings, a first color conversion layer, a second color conversion layer, and a light transmission layer respectively located in first openings, a second light blocking layer on the first light blocking layer including second openings overlapping the first openings, and first to third color filter layers located in the second openings.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes first, second, and third light-emitting devices on a substrate, an encapsulation layer covering the first through third light-emitting devices, a touch electrode disposed on the encapsulation layer and having a first opening, a second opening, and a third opening, the first opening, the second opening, and the third opening overlapping the first light-emitting device, the second light-emitting device, and the third light-emitting device, respectively, a touch insulating layer on the encapsulation layer, a color filter layer or reflection adjustment layer disposed on the touch insulating layer and also disposed in the second opening of the touch electrode overlapping the second light-emitting device, and a planarization layer. The planarization layer may directly contact an upper surface of the touch insulating layer through the first and third openings.

    Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light source; a light guide plate; and an optical member on the light guide plate. The optical member includes first insulating patterns into which light from the light guide plate is incident to the optical member; a first insulating layer which covers the first insulating patterns; second insulating patterns into which light from the first insulating layer is incident; and a second insulating layer which covers the second insulating patterns. The light guide plate includes a light incident side surface, pairs of insulating patterns each include one first insulating pattern and one second insulating pattern, and in a top plan view, for each pair of insulating patterns, the first insulating pattern is closer to the light incident side surface than the second insulating pattern.

    Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light source generating light, a light guide plate guiding the light in an upper direction, and an optical member disposed on the light guide plate to condense the light provided from the light guide plate in the upper direction. A top surface of the light guide plate includes a plurality of circular areas and a peripheral area around the circular areas. Each of the circular areas includes a central circular area and a ring area surrounding the central circular area. The optical member includes a first insulating layer disposed on the light guide plate and spaced apart from the light guide plate by predetermined distances in the ring areas and the peripheral area to define a plurality of cavities, and a second insulating layer disposed on the first insulating layer.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a first substrate in which a plurality of pixel areas and a non-pixel area around the pixel areas are defined, a cavity-defining layer disposed on the first substrate and defining a plurality of cavities corresponding to the pixel areas, an insulating layer disposed on the cavity-defining layer and in the cavities, a liquid crystal layer disposed on the insulating layer in the cavities, and a second substrate disposed on the insulating layer to cover the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal layer has a same refractive index as the cavity-defining layer when the liquid crystal layer is not driven. The liquid crystal layer has a greater refractive index than the cavity-defining layer when the liquid crystal layer is driven.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display module which displays an image and a backlight unit disposed below the display module. The backlight unit includes a light source which generates light, a light guide member including a light incident surface which receives the light from the light source and an opposite surface facing the light incident surface in a first direction, and a light collection member which is disposed on the light guide member and receives the light from the light guide member to control a traveling direction of the light so that the light travels to the display module. The light collection member includes an upper light collection layer including upper light collection patterns, each of which has a curved top surface and a lower light collection layer including lower light collection patterns and an intermediate layer which covers the lower light collection patterns.
